The water tanks of our home should be cleaned and disinfected 1-2 times a year. Cisterns with rusty surfaces should be replaced with new ones, which should be sealed so as not to allow dust, insects, birds, etc. to enter. Tanks must be of such a size that the water is replaced every 24 hours if possible. In the case of two tanks, water should be introduced into the first tank and extracted from the second, so that the water is renewed and does not remain stagnant for several days. If we have a cottage then before using the water, we should turn on the taps for a few minutes before using it. The tanks are disinfected with special chlorine dioxide tablets, but it is recommended that cleaning and disinfection of the tanks should be carried out by qualified persons in order to avoid accidents or damage to the water distribution system.
